Release Maple 2018

Maple 2018 Users Will Benefit from Enhanced User Experience
Release includes substantial improvements to how customers interact with Maple Waterloo, Canada; Mar.21, 2018

Maplesoft™ today announced a major new release of its flagship product, Maple™, the mathematical software that makes it extremely easy to analyze, explore, visualize, and solve math problems.
Maple 2018 includes substantial improvements to how customers interact with Maple, providing significant benefits to all users
no matter what they use Maple for. The release also includes an extensive collection of improvements in advanced mathematics, visualization, specialized application
areas, and more, which will be extremely useful to the mathematicians,
educators, engineers, and scientists who rely on these particular features
People use Maple to do many different things, so naturally the value of the improvements in any new release varies for each user. However, Maple 2018 is not a release to skip over, for any customer.
Maple 2018 contains a large number of substantial enhancements to
how users interact with Maple, which means all customers will see immediate benefits from this release. These improvements include:

An intelligent Context Panel, which brings together and enhances some of Maple’
s most powerful Clickable Math™ tools, providing point-and-click access to a wide variety of mathematical operations and other Maple tools.

Significant enhancements to Maple’s code editor, which makes writing, debugging, and maintaining Maple code and Maple-based applications easier and faster than before.

Deeper integration of units into the mathematics engine that significantly simplifies units-based calculations.

New options for protecting work from modification or viewing, so customers can share their work while remaining in control of their content

Maple 2018 also includes a wide variety of improvements that deepen its capabilities, as well as new features that broaden its applicability. Core mathematical enhancements were made in integration, ordinary and partial differential equations, simplification, graph theory, and more.
New abilities include computational geometry, support for performing computations involving thermochemical properties of chemical species, generating practice sheets for students that are graded by Maple automatically, and interpolating unstructured data
“While every release of Maple includes a host of improvements across many different areas of the product, people use Maple for very different tasks, and not every change
will be equally important to every user. But Maple 2018 is not a release to skip over,” says Dr. Laurent Bernardin, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Scientist at Maplesoft. “With improvements to so many of the ways our users interact with Maple, no matter what they use Maple for, our customers will find that Maple 2018 makes the work they are doing in Maple much easier.”
Maple is available in several languages including French, Simplified Chinese, and Brazilian Portuguese . A Japanese version of Maple 2018 will be available in a few weeks. For more information about new features in Maple 2018, visit

What’s New in Maple 2017!

Canadian company Maplesoft, Inc. launched a new release of mathematical software Maple 2017.

What’s New in Maple 2017

Maple 2017 has something for everyone. Here are just some of the new things you can do with Maple 2017:

Extend Maple’s power with user-created packages
The MapleCloud now gives you instant, seamless access to a rich collection of user packages that extends Maple’s abilities, and even notifies you when updates are available.

Construct even complicated plots easily
The Plot Builder in Maple 2017 has a new design that makes it even easier to create and customize a wide variety of plots, simply and without knowing a single plot command.

Solve more problems
With Maple 2017, you can find exact solutions to more PDEs with boundary conditions, find new limits, solve more integrals, perform new graph theory computations, calculate more group properties, work with new hypergeometric functions, and much more.

Protect your work
Now you can password protect worksheets while still allowing access to the procedures they contain, so you can share your work without sharing your IP.

Expand your worldview
New map visualization tools and a geographical database let you explore and understand world data in a highly visual way.

State your assumptions
You can give Maple even more information about your problem, and Maple will take these assumptions into account in even more computations, eliminating solutions you don’t need and simplifying results appropriately.

Add a new layer of information to your plots
In Maple 2017, you can add dynamic plot annotations that will appear when you hover over specific points or curves, so you can convey even more information in your graphs.

Get a head start on engineering problem solving
The Maple Portal for Engineers, which provides a starting point for common engineering tasks, now covers many more topics, includes more examples, and provides sample applications to help you become productive quickly.

Develop your own algorithms and solutions
From performance improvements in core functions, to a more flexible debugger, to new tools that simplify package creation and distribution, Maple 2017 gives you everything you need to develop even complex algorithms and solutions on your own.

Get insight into your data
Enhanced support for statistics and data analysis includes new and improved visualizations, new data analysis tools, and expanded support for data frames throughout Maple, so you can work with and learn from your data.

Support Maple 18 and lower versions ends

Dear Maple Users,

Maplesoft, Inc. has decided to support only the last three versions of Maple. License support for previous versions of Maple ends three months since the launch of Maple 2017 on 25 August 2017. The new License Manager (LM) does not support Maple 18 and the lower version of Maple. In the case of Maple 2017 installation, you must install LM on another machine or virtual server. This will prevent Maple 18 and lower versions from being malfunctioned.

Maple support on Windows XP ends

Dear Maple Users,

we’d like to inform you that Microsoft’s Windows operating system maker will no longer issue XP security patches from April 8, 2014. Therefore, Maplesoft will no longer be able to support older Maple products on this manufacturer’s own already unsupported Windows XP operating system. These are mainly Maple 12 and older systems. We would like to draw your attention to the need to upgrade Windows XP to Windows 7 or Windows 8.

Regarding the ability to run Maple 11 and Maple 12 on Windows 7, it’s important to note that some users have serious problems with using Maple 11 and Maple 12 on this operating system. For this reason, please note that Maple 11 and Maple 12 are not officially supported on the Windows 7 operating system. However, it is possible that some users will be Maple 11 or Maple 12 working seamlessly on Windows 7.
In the case of switching to Windows 8, it is important to note that only Maple 15 and later versions are supported by Maplesoft on this system. Older version of Maple 14 has serious problems running on Windows 8 and therefore mostly does not work properly.

The Maple 15 and Maple 16.00 / 16.01 versions work on Windows 8 only in compatible Windows 7 mode. Maple 16.02 and later versions should work on Windows 8 without any problems.
Additionally, Maple 17 and Maple 18 are only two versions officially supported on Windows 8.

Waterloo, March 2013
Maplesoft Inc.

In particular, support for older Maple systems on individual versions of the Windows operating system is not possible for technical reasons, which are mostly caused by changes in Windows operating systems, where part of the functionality is replaced by another functionality, so the old functionality used in Maple is no longer available. That is why Maple is not working properly. But this is not a problem on Maplesoft’s side, but it’s a tax on developing and deploying new Windows operating systems.
